101 ways to misinterpret a letter February 9, 2008

Filed under: election, politics, primary, super tuesday — roxi @ 7:54 pm

You can certainly go to Ron Paul Forums right now and get dizzy with insanity. I feel like Im reading Cybil’s diary. Last night after receiving a letter from Ron Paul there were HUNDREDS of people flocking to the forums to post their interpretations of his words, with 80% of them having this dejected “OH MY GOD ITS OVER” attitude. But here is my interpretation of his letter…..

February 8, 2008

Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November.

(roxi says: this campaign has far exceeded my expectations and I am in it til the end)

It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans — and friends in many other countries — have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations, hard work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am to be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.

(Roxi says: we have been discussing this at home and wondering what our chances are, and we have decided no matter what we won’t let our supporters down)

Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero.

(Roxi says: I have to sound dejected so everyone thinks I don’t feel like I have a chance of winning)

But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get.

(Roxi says: Keep showing up at the caucuses we need delegates now more than ever)

But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter.

(Roxi says: I have realized that a percentage of my staff is incompetent, and wasting too much of your money so im cleaning house)

Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties — just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

(Roxi says: SEE i am loyal to the GOP, and will fight for the prosperity of the party no matter what)

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.

(Roxi says: I have made a promise to my supporters to do what it takes to fight for liberty and i will not let them down, so i will be running for both positions)

In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always.

(Roxi says: KEEP donating money to both of my causes because a win in either outlet means a win for liberty)

And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.

(Roxi says: no matter what happens we are fighting a cause not a specific election so if you give up you have worked hard for nothing, don’t let the neocons win)

Sincerely,

Ron

NOW heres what needs to happen

everyone needs to quit being whiny crybabies and ban together for a mission, we can still get Ron elected but we are going to have to work as a team to do so. the only important thing right now is signing up as a precinct leader and calling the people on your list to show up at the caucus. and the following is an excerpt from a post on the forums from someone who hasn’t lost their mind:

1st. Do NOT wear any RP gear to caucus.

2nd. Use the Straw Poll as your gauge as to what to do next in your caucus. If it’s the 1st thing they do before delegate elections…great! If not, make a motion to have it 1st so if people want to leave they can. RP people will stay, for they are educated, the other’s will leave, leaving RP people to take all the delegate seats.

3rd. If the Straw Poll comes in strong for anyone other than RP, fly under the radar. If asked who is your candidate, hem and haw around and say something like: since Romney dropped out, I don’t know. Then they will still vote for YOU to be a delegate.

4th. If they then ask you why you want to be a delegate say things Republican like: I’m new to the party, liked Reagan, and I feel becoming a delegate is the best way for me to learn the system of the Party. OR I’m conservatie and I want to vote for the best candidate that can beat the Democrats!

6th. If people already know you are a RP supporter from other sources (canvassing, etc) STILL be Republican (help out with the caucus by volunteering for secretary or teller committee) but make a motion for a secret ballot for the delegate vote.

7th. Take along a stack of index cards (for use as secret ballots) and extra pens. Then the secret ballot will be easy.

this is very good advice and we need to all show up at the caucuses and conventions with bells on :)

The results are coming in and at first glance it seems discouraging. Im sure all over the world Ron Pauls supporters, their friends and families are saying one of two things: “what the hell happened” and “I told you so” What everyone needs to do is take a deep breath and remember a few things. First off these results are good. Even though it seems as though Ron Paul is coming in last, the popular votes mean NOTHING. Most of these Super Tuesday states are winner take all. What that means is if ONE candidate wins with 51% of the votes then the delegates are legally bound to vote for that winner. If no one candidate takes 51% then it becomes a brokered convention. With there being three virtual “frontrunners” there is no chance of any of the candidates taking that required 51%. Let me repeat THERE IS NO CHANCE OF ANY ONE CANDIDATE TAKING 51%. What does that mean you say? Let me break it down as simply as possible. Take Missouri for example. The Missouri caucuses are March 15th. Over a month away. On March 15th registered voters can show up at their county caucus locations to show their support for their candidate. Because there was no 51% winner then those voters are able to vote for any candidate they want. There is not much of a turnout at these caucuses. Only hard core GOP party members show up for the caucus and those numbers are not high. SO if 100 people show up at my county caucus in webster county, and 75 of us are Ron Paul supporters then we get ALL 15 OF WEBSTER COUNTIES DELEGATES. Same for each county. we can still win this election. All that needs to be done is for each and every Ron Paul supporter to show up at their county caucus. Thats it. JUST SHOW UP. at that point the real election results will be decided. The mainstream media is doing their best at brainwashing americans into believing that John McCain and Hillary are the nominees after tonight BUT THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE!

Ron Paul has a lot of money. He also has a lot of support. BUT its going to take more than money and support. GET on the phone. call your friends, ask them to come to the caucus to vote for YOU as delegate. call the voters in your county, find out which ones voted for ron paul. if those people will show up at the caucus for you then he will win. Or you can sit back and cry and whine that what you did wasn’t good enough and watch our country be ruled by neocons for at least 4 more years.

The Revolution Continues!!!

McCain Breaks His Own Rules February 5, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 3:13 pm

** State Leader of Paul Campaign File Complaint Against McCain’s Telemarketing Abuses**

“McCain inflicted campaign reform on us, he ought to follow the rules he created”

Oklahoma City – Kirk Shelley Oklahoma State Coordinator of Ron Paul Presidential campaign filed a formal complaint about John McCain’s illegal robo-calling with the Oklahoma Attorney General.

Kirk Shelley expressed his frustration with McCain’s calls.

“Everyone knows the rules on these calls, or they should” said Shelley, “when you run for President or work in federal campaigns you get attorneys to tell you what you can and can not do – calling non-supporters without a phone number to stop the calls is illegal.”

“Anyone who pays attention to politics in Oklahoma knows that Tim Pope was indicted by Drew Edmondson for this same thing. The McCain campaign or their telemarketing people sure should have known better.”

Shelley continued “the bigger picture to me is this – Sen. McCain has set himself up as leader for campaign reform by authoring ‘McCain-Feingold’ telling the rest of the country the rules he thinks we should follow, yet here he is violating those very rules he helped create. If you are going to create laws limiting the free speech rights of other Americans at least have the integrity to follow them yourself.”

The copies of the illegal calls can be found here: http://www.ronpaultulsa.com/McRobo1.mp3 and http://www.ronpaultulsa.com/McRobo2.mp3

I have sent copies of the illegal calls go to the Attorney General and I’m confident he will prosecute with the same diligence that he went after Tim Pope, and I hope the voters remember that the author of ‘so-called campaign reform’ broke his own rules.

CRAZINESS IN NH!!! January 5, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 6:27 pm

things have been insane here, volunteers are coming by the carloads, our rented houses have air mattress floors with people lined up all over, streets are being heavily canvassed and taken over by supporters and signs. all the overpasses have banners, ernie hancock from arizona (the guy who created the revolution logo is here and his house is a BANNER MAKING FACTORY!!) josh lowry is here helping with that. ron paul has been here the last few days and we have been CRAZY busy

Dr Paul is in town!! December 20, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 5:47 am

Dr Paul is in town, this makes our full time jobs double overtime, and we could never be more excited or tired. I have to roll out of NH tomorrow for christmas with my daughter, olivia but don’t worry ill be working from missouri and laura will be here so volunteers will still be coordinated :)

He went to portsmouth late this morning to have lunch with his family and then greet businesses and residents, we put signs all up and down the highway with signs which were removed by the NHDOT at 3pm (after Ron Saw them)even though the STATE TROOPERS had given us permission to have them on the highway til 5pm… a meetup member snapped this for us

so then we went had a sign wave just down from where ron was and told people where he was so they could hear him speak. Next we headed to Concord HQ to help with phone banking calling people to invite them to hear him speak over the next few days
putting signs together, etc

Ron paul had just left on his way to Franklin Pierce Law School to have a Presidential Forum, in which all candidates were invited, only 2 excepted, Dr. Paul, and Mike Gravel, who canceled at the last minute, so Dr Paul spoke about the cons of executive power and then had a Q and A with the audience, it was great, and as always he did SO AWESOME, man that guy is a genius!!! so here are a few pics

Tea Party 07… OLFD festivities December 18, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 5:11 am

I watched the ticker til 3 am, a few of us did, some stayed asleep this is what happens when you try to sleep on tea party money bomb night….

this is the screenshot of the ticker at 3am….

.

we were expecting a huge storm and it had barely started, so i wasn’t really prepared for this in the morning….

so we pretty much thought we were snowed in so the guys made breakfast and coffee…

then a couple guys with trucks came and played in the snow on our street and eventually the snow plows came so the guys shoveled us out of the driveway, we ended up riding with someone else though since they drove out of their way to get us thinking we would be stranded. It was slushy but we made it pretty well, heres a picture going into the boston tunnel

the first place we stopped was quincy market which is right across from Faneuil Hall where the rally was being held, The market was really cool, I imagined what it was like when the founding fathers walked the streets of boston and what parts were original and what parts were not, Im fairly certain that the starbucks was probably there for sure, otherwise what would have kept sam adams and daniel webster energized? :)

another cool thing in quincy market…

so just walking around quincy market jay and I found plenty of other ron paul supporters including our OLFD roomates frank (tulsa, OK) and justin (poplar bluff, mo)who came with us, we were standing inside talking and drinking coffee when all of a sudden we see the crowd gathering in front of Faneuil Hall with, you guessed it, Ron Paul signs… there were people everywhere and the people inside the market were gathering at the windows to see the spectacle outside, this is what we could see…

then the granny warriors showed up

We went inside to the Hall and the energy was so amazing, I went to the Iowa straw poll and it was one of my first big events so of course i was excited, but it was so much like a competition parts of it were hard to enjoy. But the looks on peoples faces just made this so different, you could see in their eyes they were at their first big event, the electricity in them made me remember how it was the first time and it was so great to be a part of. if you would like to see for yourself watch this…..

heres a pic i took from the top of fanieul hall…

heres Jay and Norman (campaign staffer) with John McManus, the founder of the John Birch society…

here is our group of OLFD members in a group, some couldn’t go but we still had a good showing…

here are some of the rest of the pictures of the rally and speeches

After that we marched (loudly) to the state house for the boston tea party official reeinactment heres the video, and some pictures.

It was really funny because i had no idea about the reenactment of the debates over the tax that was to be imposed on the tea in boston back then, and I honestly didn’t know much about the history of it either, I was worried all day about not getting to put tea in the harbor and after the speeches were over, and I was trying to round everyone up for the group picture (not an easy task) Jim gave me two tickets to go to the state house and watch the reenactment, so i was worried i wouldn’t make it because we were already late. We finally marched there, and they were very welcoming to us even though the show had already started… some went in and some stayed outside, Then I didn’t see anything about them officially dumping tea in the harbor (which they normally do, i was told) and so I asked someone who appeared to be somewhat in charge and they said in fact no one would be doing that this year. I was never so disappointed considering this is WHY i wanted to go so badly. we all had plenty of ron paul tea bags though so we organized a march to the harbor to put in our tea bags, we chanted the whole way, trudging through snow, slush, ice and ice water puddles to get there but you would have never know it because everyone was so energetic, just like the march at the iowa rally but with less people. We lost about half our group

heres the video and some pics…

Jay and I with our tea

afterwards we headed back to where we heard the other ron paul supporters who didn’t follow us to the harbor went, which was a restaurant and tavern called the green dragon.

outside all the signs had been lined up outside the bar in the snow

Coincidentally It happened to be VERY OLD, as a matter of fact it first opened in 1657 and was a “hotbed meeting place” for none other than…. you guessed it the founding fathers, can you imagine? It was even called the “headquarters of the revolution” by Sam Adams, Paul Revere, and Daniel Webster. My feet were walking on the same floor, I was sitting at the same bar, I could not have possibly been happier about that, and I had to get a sam adams to commemorate this amazing event in my life

here are the pics of everyone ….

and I thought i would throw in a few pics i took in boston…

So I hope you enjoyed my version of the events in boston…. heres to the 6 million dollar man!!

Canvassing Portsmouth December 3, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 11:14 pm

Just got home from canvassing, we hit downtown portsmouth, which was mostly apartment buildings that we couldn’t get into but we found plenty of people who wanted to take our lit. I talked to this one guy named Tom, who liked what RP had to say, but didn’t think he had a chance. By the time I left he was fully aware of how much of a chance RP actually has and after explaining the importance of voting on principle rather than who i thought might win he was more than willing to “waste” his vote anyway…

The ride home was scary… frozen roads, bad tires, and people driving like idiots = me closing my eyes the whole way home. There is a new volunteer coming tonight so that should be exciting :) here are a couple of pics I snapped today…. i threw in a pretty one for ya and a short video above.

EXCITEMENT IN NEW HAMPSHIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!! December 2, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 8:24 pm

Ron Paul supporters from all over the country came to new hampshire yesterday to help with a HUGE canvassing event to do voter IDing and spread the word about ron paul. we met at different locations throughout the state and instructions, packets, and ron paul paraphanalia was distributed.

then afterwards we all met up at Murphy’s Taproom in Manchester to celebrate, meet everyone else and just have a good time. Murphys is owned by a Free state project member and they love Ron Paul. There was also a Monarchs game going on at the verizon building and we all held signs outside while people were leaving the game. Ron Paul came by to tell everyone thanks for being there and volunteering.

here are some of the pics i took and the video of Ron Pauls speech.

CNN Youtube debate – and Beach bonfires UPDATED!!!!!!!!!! DEC 1st to add pictures November 29, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 4:20 pm

We headed to portsmouth to watch the CNN-Youtube debate with the Portsmouth meetup group. We got introduced to everyone and as usual, as with all Ron Paul supporters we have met everyone was awesome. As we were ordering dinner the debate started and we got some attention from the other bar patrons when we were applauding Ron taking the stage. Then all throughout the night i kept noticing people from other parts of the bar coming over to watch the debate with us. we had a great time jack bought all of us OLFD people dinner (we had the best pizza ever) and I personally thought the debate went awesome. RP made himself look great, he stood up for himself, he was passionate, and all the other guys made them selves look like complete idiots. so heres a couple of pics of us at the debate watch party

afterwards we stopped at a gas station to drop off materials to a guy that we talked to the night before who was now a hardcore RP supporter, we got him to come canvass with us saturday and gave away 3 yard signs. Then we came back here and a few of us went down to the beach and held the first annual Ron Paul Revolution Beach Bonfire :) heres some of the pics from that

We have been super busy the last few days, I haven’t had a chance to do much updating so heres the scoop.

tuesday a guy named bill called and said he had seen our video blogs online and had some gifts for us. he stopped by and brought each of us a gift certificate for a local grocery store. This was the best gift we could have gotten, feeding 10 people isn’t easy. so heres bill giving us the gifts. I will upload the video in the player on ronpaultulsa.com/NH tomorrow.

later in the evening we went to Murphys in Manchester and hung out with Ron Paul supporters and FSP members. Tuesday nights we all meet up and everyone gets together just to relax and talk about what we have been doing for the last few days. heres some pics of that as well.

this is linda, you might know some of her work… ahem the mosaic ad, founders flyers? she is super awesome and the guy next to her is Paul… he has the coolest tea party poster on his van.

Not so free lobsters November 29, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 8:52 am

Charles brought home two live lobsters last night and just laid them on the floor. They were super cool, I have personally never touched a live lobster, much less one crawling on my living room floor. The kids thought they were pets and when they went into the pot they were like “where did our pets go?” So the lobster was steamed and from what I hear it was very good. I myself have a general rule about not eating anything I have petted within the last hour, so I opted out. But it was a fun experience I thought i would share. Here are some pics and you can find the video at www.ronpaultulsa.com/NH in the video player. (the fish was dead)

saturday canvassing November 25, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 2:48 am

Today was our first official day of canvassing. We went to Exeter, NH and started on a list of addresses from HQ. The canvassing packets make it really easy. the addresses are mapped out in order, and the script is super easy to follow. People are really cool with strangers walking up to their doors too. We had a few people say they didn’t have time or weren’t interested in getting information but they would still answer a few questions about their voting status. The campaign has an official strategy for us to follow which makes it easy to not get wrapped up in conversations about our own opinions of RP.

The first time someone actually said “I am voting for Ron Paul” I almost didn’t know what to say, I was so excited I just wanted to yell “I am one of you!” after explaining How i had just come from Oklahoma to help with this effort he was very interested in what we were doing and said he wasn’t a “ron paul junkie” like me but he was definitely voting for him.

we had a really good response. MOST of these people are undecided, not leaning toward one or the other, with only a few ideas about ron paul. Most had heard of ron paul, and heard about NOV 5th. I was so so pleased with our results and the responses.

we got home and did some video blogging and now we are on our way to the bar at the end of the street where a band is playing. we have some of the ozzfest flyers so were going to talk to that crowd about the war, and the war on drugs.

ITS A REVOLUTION BITCHES!

Black Friday November 23, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 9:15 pm

Black friday has been the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season at least since the start of the modern Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924. “Black Friday” was originally so named because of the heavy traffic on that day, although most contemporary uses of the term refer instead to it as the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black (i.e., turning a profit).

for Ron paul supporters it means there are hundreds of freezing people standing in lines waiting to be let in to spend their fiat money on useless products, ready to be primed for the freedom message.

we left hampton at 3:30 am to drive to the nearest “shopping district” in Portsmouth.
The first place we drove by was circuit city. There were at least 150 people in line and we dove right in… This first crowd was pretty rough. Most of them were just too damn cold to be interested in anything other than being let in the front doors but we got a few good responses. We moved on to the mall and hit up the best buy crowd first.

These people were hilarious… The first guy I got to have a real conversation with says “oh no, Gialuliani is my guy. When Hunter asked him why he supported the ghoul, he couldn’t even answer, and turned the question into, well tell me something about ron paul… “IM GLAD YOU ASKED”… after explaining to this guy that Mr. 9/11 was not who he says he is and telling him why, and also why Ron Paul should be his man, I think he finally realized that maybe he hadn’t looked into it enough.

we moved on to a cold young lady who was full of questions. mostly about why the UN was bad, what Ron would do for the environment, blah blah blah…. after explaining the bigger picture to her she was primed and ready to switch from Obama to Ron.

a group of young guys were all about Ron Paul and helped create a buzz around them by screaming “Ron Paul is the MAN!!!”…it didn’t take much work after that we worked the crowd a while longer, and when on to the people standing in line at STAPLES… what people could seriously want that bad from STAPLES is beyond me (it was like 20 degrees out, :)

I told one guy i had drove here from Oklahoma and he was like OMG you must be freezing.. after laughing about what a puss i was for being cold, he was very interested in the fact that so few people voted in the primaries last election, because he was one of those people. I told him about November 5th and he was VERY VERY INTERESTED in that.

So we handed out plenty of materials. I wish we would have had hot chocolate, I promise we would have gained 50 new hardcore supporters.

So heres some pics of the crowd, and the sunrise pics i took on the way back home.

oooh pretty:

I have never in my life been woken up by the smell of food cooking, I mean i have awoke to the smells, but the smells have never woke me…til today, We arrived in New Hampshire at 8 am and after driving all night we fell asleep before our heads hit the pillow. I came down the stairs to see Laura making a homemade Thanksgiving dinner from scratch. We had everything, Turkey, sweet potatoes (the best ever) dressing, mashed potatoes, homemade rolls, homemade apple pie. The next best thing to being at your moms house for thanksgiving, is being at someone elses moms house, and we picked the right house to be. Dinner went great we have all had a lot of fun and now we are sitting around the table playing some texas hold em waiting til its time to leave for black friday.

Finally on the road November 23, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 2:34 am

The longer it took to leave Kansas city the more I couldn’t wait to get to New Hampshire. We started on the road at 9 pm expecting to arrive sometime around 10 wednesday night. of course on a 1700 mile road trip what you expect and what you get are usually two different things. I woke up somewhere in Indiana to a pop, squeal and swerving and realized a tire had blown up. We pulled over and started emptying out the packed full trunk to get the jack and donut. Lo and behold after the trunk was completely empty we found the jack, but no donut. The fuzzy memory of giving away our donut at the yard sale was swimming around in my brain while several cuss words were floating out of my mouth. So surveying our options at 4 am we had some closed looking businesses, a hotel, a truck stop and a mc donalds. Jay decided to walk up to the area and see what he could find out. He came back about 45 minutes later. He had posted a call for help message on the forums, and all we could do at this point was wait.

Its a strange experience waking up on the highway to a state trooper knocking on your window. Since it was obvious what had happened, what with a shredded tire laying next to the car, he only smiled and said, what can I do to help you guys? So he got on his phone and called a tow truck at the discount tire shop that was literally 200 yards from where our car sat on the highway. Had we known how close it was I would have carried the damn tire there to save that $75 towing charge.

Something good came out of it anyway. I spent the 30 minutes it took to change the tire talking with the shop owner about Ron Paul. First topic of conversation was about the IRS. Not much talking was needed on my part, the guy sounded like he was preaching Ron’s words himself. It didn’t take long to realize the guy was going to be a hardcore supporter when he gave us our bill for $100 and said “hell, ill just send that right back to him” pointing at the liberty cards we had put on the counter for his customers.

SOOO if anyone in Indiana needs a tire go to the discount tire shop of of I-70 about 30 minutes west of Indianapolis. talk to Jeff, hes a good guy.

After that, It was my turn to drive. I hit deadlock traffic about 5 minutes before columbus, OH that didn’t stop until we were at least 30 miles out of the city. After 2 hours in traffic not moving an inch a mile, I was ready to let Jay take over again.

around The middle of pennsylvania the fog got thick and stayed that way all the way to NH. When we passed over the Hudson River we couldnt see 2 feet in front of us and we didn’t really see much again til this afternoon. As we were driving in to Hampton the tide was up and the waves were crashing over the bridge onto the road.

All in all it was a good trip, the blowout turned out to bring RP another donator, and we made it one piece.

heres the pics i took from the road

I got a new tattoo sunday. A lot of people are going to think Im crazy for getting a Ron Paul related tattoo, “what if he doesn’t win” they say…. But this tattoo is not about Ron Paul. This tattoo is about the message. The message of freedom, of people taking back their country as I am attempting to do now. The message of a Revolution. I have a tattoo for every significant event in my life. I think selling everything I own and going halfway across the country to spread this message is a pretty significant event. So to you nay sayers out there. This is a revolution bitches!!!!!!!

We woke up super early this morning and had to rearrange the car. when i picked up jay in springfield he added stuff to the already full car and there was odds and ends laying everywhere. We stayed in monett, Mo for a little while, dropping off campaign materials to friends we have turned onto ron paul. We stopped at a gas station in Lamar, Mo that had presidential candidate lighters with caricatures of the “top tier” candidates on them. I asked if they had any Ron Paul lighters and the guy looked at me with that glazed over “who the hell is ron paul” look on his face, so of course we had to explain and bitch about the media being owned etc. We are now in Kansas City and we will stay the night here, leaving sometime tomorrow after we get the window fixed in the car.

ALL YOUR CANDIES ARE BELONG TO US!!!!! November 4, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 11:56 am

You have never experienced Halloween properly unless you have trick or treated with a mass mob of nearly 30 children. We were invited to celebrate the annual Halloween festivities with some of the other PTA moms and their kids. I met with the closest mom to me on the block and we walked and picked up the next closest til we had a HUGE group with us. We all had hot dogs (a tradition) and set off for trick or treating. Olivia wasn’t feeling all that well so I didn’t plan to be out long in the cold. We started walking around the neighborhoods with our children knocking on doors threatening tricks and demanding treats. Some kids would run, some would walk but i think they could have walked in a single file line and it would have not been any easier to control them. There were plenty of times during the night I wondered how appropriate it would be to hire a SWAT team to accompany our group just to keep control. Even with around 10 adults keeping control of 27 children with bags of candy threatening to hurt you if you don’t give them a piece we still could have used the extra support. HA HA nah it wasn’t that bad, the kids were all easily controlable with the threat of us eating all their candy, hell they knew we were going to get our share of it anyway :)

but heres the pics of course :

Kindergarten field trips October 31, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 5:57 am

I was pretty excited about my kids first school field trip and was all set to go to the pumpkin patch. I was to meet some of the other parents at the school at 9:25 and they were leaving at 9:30… so they said. I go home and nap after I drop Liv off at school and wake up at 9:15… throw on the jeans and hoodie and head up to the school. My friends car was there so I went in to find an empty class, and an empty PTA room. So I called my friend and they had already left. So of course being overhormonal and emotional I just burst into tears, (have YOU ever broke a promise to your 5 year old?) my friend is apologizing profusely saying don’t cry don’t cry and Im saying (incomprehensibly im sure) i promised, and i have her coat, shes going to get cold(it was 60 degrees) (whine whine, cry cry) she offers to wake up her 16 year old to drive me there, I refuse and head home. when i walk in crying jay asks me whats wrong and gives me a hug, i cry some more and tell him the story and he says silly ill drive you there, so we jumped in the car and off we went. I got there and they were having a blast. then afterwards the kids went back to school and the girls and I went for lunch and a little 99 cent store shopping :)

brazilian meat, and pineapple on a stick – a restaurant review by roxi October 20, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 4:33 pm

Last night Jay and I went on the first date we have been on in a long, long time. Someone from the ron paul group says to us last week “do you eat meat?” and of course my response was “um, excuse me”… come to find out he had a $50 gift certificate for The Gaucho which is a brazilian steak house, that he and his girlfriend couldn’t use so he gave it to us. SCORE free steak and a date!

So we went to The Gaucho not really knowing what to expect. Before we left Ryan told us, “go, hungry and don’t fill up at the salad bar” He should have told us he was serious too. :)

We went after 9pm which normally when you walk into any decent restaurant less than an hour before the kitchen closes the food is subpar, but we were in for a surprise with this restaurant.
We were seated at a nice table in the back, next to the GINORMOUS bear? cow? skin… not sure but it was cool looking. On our other side was a private room that had the doors wide open filled with a group of about 30 kids who looked like they had come straight from kappa alpha omega frat house. I would have preferred being away from them but really it wasn’t too bad, there were only around 7 good looking college frat boys watching me chew my food with interest. No it wasn’t that bad, and they were fairly quiet for college kids.

the waiter brought out these little garlic biscuits with a ball of Parmesan cheese baked in the middle, very good. the waiter give us colored squares that look like they are intended for your beer, or glass but no, one side is green the other side is red. If your hungry put it on green, if your not put it on red. WHEN ITS ON GREEN you BETTER be hungry!

so we made our first trip to the salad bar and seriously, go ahead, try to heed the “don’t fill up at the salad bar” warnings but i don’t think you can do it. If your like us and you LOVE salads then this is an impossible task. there are little shrimp salads, potato salads, couscous, spinach salad, HUGE cheese and olive chunks, I mean ENDLESS! everything was so so good, and i found out I’m not a fan of cous cous… it sort of tastes like, sand and Italian dressing.

so we were digging through salad when we decided to test the waters with the meat which they had told us when we are ready for meat turn the green side up and they will bring out the different types of meat. We look up to see a HUGE man who looks like the soup Nazi carrying a long stick of meat looking somethings. I pictured this guy running around like a schizo with his sword plucking it into animals and then with eyes glazed over scorching it with fire til it looked good. He arrives at our table and its Parmesan chicken he scrapes off a few pieces which we are required to grab from his little platform with our tiny tiny meat tongs. (which are really cheese tongs in disguise)

the Parmesan chicken was pretty good and the next guy comes along with a HUGE chunk of sizzling top sirloin on his sword. Then comes BACON wrapped filet mignon, which was so good I thought my tongue might roll back into my throat just so i wouldn’t have to ever taste anything but this ever again. then bacon wrapped chicken, then this then that, by the time he brings out the tiny sausages on a sword we were turning the red coaster over so fast, This did not please the soup Nazi guy as he was convinced we needed MORE MEAT! I’m truly surprised he didn’t dance around our table screaming more meat, more meat! HA HA no just kidding he was really nice, just adamant that we couldn’t possibly be full DIDN’T ANYONE TELL YOU NOT TO FILL UP ON SALAD LADY!!! I’m sure this is what he was thinking.

so we said we would like to try the pineapple we had seen floating around and this seemed to satisfy him for the moment. he comes back with a HUGE pineapple and a HUGE smile on his face as if he had won. Maybe they have some employee of the night chart for the one that gets rid of the most meat. The pineapple was delicious, warm soft and delicious. By this point i really might have thrown up had I taken another bite, so i sat back threw some lemon and pineapples in my water and leaned back to enjoy what i knew was coming to an end soon.

So my date turned out great, I give the Gaucho 5 stars – I mean where else can you get 9 kinds of meat in one meal? EVERYTHING was so good. and the staff was incredibly nice. Just heed my warning, if you go there, GO HUNGRY AND DON’T FILL UP ON SALAD! I’m serious

Paint the town Ron September 30, 2007

The National “Paint the town Ron” event consisted of about 100 different cities meetup groups making homemade signs and banners, distributing them overnight last night and tonight in their own cities in an effort to get as much name recognition as possible before the 3rd quarter results are announced. http://paintthetownron.com/

Tonight at midnight is the deadline to donate before the 3rd quarter ends and at the beginning of the week Ron Paul announced a goal to push them farther than they even thought they could do. A thermometer and countdown clock were put on the main site and we hit 200,000 the next day the 500,000 dollar goal was reached by wednesday and last night we hit ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!! So on monday there will be thousands of signs and banners all over america. and this week results from fundraising will be announced. The media can not possibly ignore this right?

we hope so… http://www.ronpaulportal.com

section one:

The Scary Stuff

This is an issue that is very important to me, I am very passionate about changing the path that america has been on for several years now, and one of the best ways to help change that path is by helping to inform people i care about with what i find…the following information is not some hooplah that i found in an email forward…this is information I have compiled with a few other people over the course of several months. I have dedicated over 200 hours of research into this and I have credible sources for all of my information…Any of the executive orders below can be looked up as public record. here is one site you can do that at: http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/executive_orders.php now on this website you can search any executive order ever in history, you can search by year and executive orders are numbered in orer the ones below are sporadic and not all were signed by bush, bush however did change some of the laws that affected the original EO’s

I know this is long, and a lot of information, if you skim through it the first time please go back and read it through

FEMA has been given responsibility for disaster relief, including urban forest fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornado’s, refugee situations, urban riots, and emergency planning for nuclear and toxic incidents.

FEMA was created in a series of Executive Orders. A Presidential Executive order, whether constitutional or not, becomes law simply by its publication in the federal Registry. Congress is bypassed

FEMA has only spent about 6 percent of its budget on national emergencies. The bulk of the funding has been used for construction of underground facilities to assure continuity of government in case of a major emergency – foriegn or domestic.

FEMA has been given control of the state defense forces, A civilian army that will substitute for the National Guard in the event of a declared emergency, if the GUard is called to duty overseas.

Executive orders and bills passed by congress associated with FEMA or the Federal GOvernment that suspend the constitution:

Executive order #12656: Appointed the National Security Council as the principal body that should consider emergency powers.
(This allows the government to increase domestic intelligence and surveillance of US citizens and would restrict the freedom of movement within the US and grant the government the right to isolate large groups of civilians.

Executive order #11003: Allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft including commercial aircraft.

Executive order #11005 Allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and storage facilities, public and private.

Executive order #10990: Allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

Executive order #10995: Allows the government to seize and control the “communication media”

Executive order #10997: Allows the governement to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals, Public and private.

Executive order #10998 Allows the government to take over all food supplies and resources, public and private, including farms and equipment

Executive order # 11921: Allows the government to control the mechanisms of production and distribution of energy sources, and the flow of money in US financial institutions in any undefined National Emergency. Also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the declaration for a period of six months

Executive order #11051: Grants authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis

Executive order #11000: Authorizes the government to mobilize American civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

THE PATRIOT ACT:

Third party holders of your financial, library, travel, video rental, phone, medical, church, synagogue, and mosque records can be searched without your knowledge or consent.

Allows Law Enforcement to conduct warrantless searches of your records, place of residence and confiscate your personal property without your knowledge or consent.

THE DOMESTIC SECURITY ENHANCEMENT ACT OF 2003:

Instructs government to build a mammoth database of citizen DNA information, aimed at detecting, investigating, prosecuting, preventing or responding to terrorist activities.

THE MILITARY COMMISSIONS ACT:

Strips the courts of jurisdiction to hear or consider habeas corpus appeals of anyone held in US custody as an “unlawful enemy combatant”

Defines an “unlawful enemy combatant” as any individual engaged in hostilities against the united states who is not a lawful enemy combatant”

The definition of “hostilities” is broad enough to include any american citizen who is acting in a way the president deems hostil to the US

Prohibits any person from invoking the Geneva conventions or their protocols as a source of rights in any action in any US court

NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE 51 AND HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE 20

(SIGNED BY BUSH MAY, 2007)
the secretary of homeland security shall serve as the presidents lead agent for coordinating overall continuity operations and activities of executive departments and agencies

Allows the president to control and coordinate all 3 branches of government in the event of a catastrophic emergency”

(catastrophic emergency is defined as any incident that results in extraordinary levels of mass casualties damage, or disruption severly affecting the US poplation, infrastructure, environment, economy, or government functions.)

ANNEX A AND section 24;security : CLASSIFIED

KELLOG BROWN and Root recently was awarded a 385 million dollar open ended contract by the department of Homeland security which provides for establishing temporary detention facilities and “processing areas” on american soil

the Real ID:

President Bush is expected to sign an $82 billion military spending bill soon that will, in part, create electronically readable, federally approved ID cards for Americans. The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the package–which includes the Real ID Act

Starting three years from now, if you live or work in the United States, you’ll need a federally approved ID card to travel on an airplane, open a bank account, collect Social Security payments, or take advantage of nearly any government service. Practically speaking, your driver’s license likely will have to be reissued to meet federal standards.

The Real ID Act hands the Department of Homeland Security the power to set these standards and determine whether state drivers’ licenses and other ID cards pass muster. Only ID cards approved by Homeland Security can be accepted “for any official purpose” by the feds.

You’ll still get one through your state motor vehicle agency, and it will likely take the place of your drivers’ license. But the identification process will be more rigorous.

For instance, you’ll need to bring a “photo identity document,” document your birth date and address, and show that your Social Security number is what you had claimed it to be. U.S. citizens will have to prove that status, and foreigners will have to show a valid visa.

State DMVs will have to verify that these identity documents are legitimate, digitize them and store them permanently. In addition, Social Security numbers must be verified with the Social Security Administration.

What’s going to be stored on this ID card?
At a minimum: name, birth date, sex, ID number, a digital photograph, address, and a “common machine-readable technology” that Homeland Security will decide on. The card must also sport “physical security features designed to prevent tampering, counterfeiting, or duplication of the document for fraudulent purposes.”

Homeland Security is permitted to add additional requirements–such as a fingerprint or retinal scan–on top of those. We won’t know for a while what these additional requirements will be.

Why did these ID requirements get attached to an “emergency” military spending bill?
Because it’s difficult for politicians to vote against money that will go to the troops in Iraq and tsunami relief. The funds cover ammunition, weapons, tracked combat vehicles, aircraft, troop housing, death benefits, and so on.

The House already approved a standalone version of the Real ID Act in February, but by a relatively close margin of 261-161. It was expected to run into some trouble in the Senate. Now that it’s part of an Iraq spending bill, senators won’t want to vote against it.

What’s the justification for this legislation anyway?
Its supporters say that the Real ID Act is necessary to hinder terrorists, and to follow the ID card recommendations that the 9/11 Commission made last year.

It will “hamper the ability of terrorist and criminal aliens to move freely throughout our society by requiring that all states require proof of lawful presence in the U.S. for their drivers’ licenses to be accepted as identification for federal purposes such as boarding a commercial airplane, entering a federal building, or a nuclear power plant,” Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, a Wisconsin Republican, said during the debate Thursday.

You said the ID card will be electronically readable. What does that mean?
The Real ID Act says federally accepted ID cards must be “machine readable,” and lets Homeland Security determine the details. That could end up being a magnetic strip, enhanced bar code, or radio frequency identification (RFID) chips.

In the past, Homeland Security has indicated it likes the concept of RFID chips. The State Department is already going to be embedding RFID devices in passports, and Homeland Security wants to issue RFID-outfitted IDs to foreign visitors who enter the country at the Mexican and Canadian borders. The agency plans to start a yearlong test of the technology in July at checkpoints in Arizona, New York and Washington state.

Will state DMVs share this information?
Yes. In exchange for federal cash, states must agree to link up their databases. Specifically, the Real ID Act says it hopes to “provide electronic access by a state to information contained in the motor vehicle databases of all other states.”

Is this legislation a done deal?
Pretty much. The House of Representatives approved the package on Thursday by a vote of 368-58. Only three of the “nay” votes were Republicans; the rest were Democrats. The Senate is scheduled to vote on it next week and is expected to approve it as well.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan has told reporters “the president supports” the standalone Real ID Act, and the Bush administration has come out with an official endorsement. As far back as July 2002, the Bush administration has been talking about assisting “the states in crafting solutions to curtail the future abuse of drivers’ licenses by terrorist organizations.”

Who were the three Republicans who voted against it?
Reps. Howard Coble of North Carolina, John Duncan of Tennessee, and Ron Paul of Texas.

Paul has warned that the Real ID Act “establishes a national ID card” and “gives authority to the Secretary of Homeland Security to unilaterally add requirements as he sees fit.”

Is this a national ID card?
It depends on whom you ask. Barry Steinhardt, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s technology and liberty program, says: “It’s going to result in everyone, from the 7-Eleven store to the bank and airlines, demanding to see the ID card. They’re going to scan it in. They’re going to have all the data on it from the front of the card…It’s going to be not just a national ID card but a national database.”

At the moment, state driver’s licenses aren’t easy for bars, banks, airlines and so on to swipe through card readers because they’re not uniform; some may have barcodes but no magnetic stripes, for instance, and some may lack both. Steinhardt predicts the federalized IDs will be a gold mine for government agencies and marketers. Also, he notes that the Supreme Court ruled last year that police can demand to see ID from law-abiding U.S. citizens.

Will it be challenged in court?
Maybe. “We’re exploring whether there are any litigation possibilities here,” says the ACLU’s Steinhardt.

One possible legal argument would challenge any requirement for a photograph on the ID card as a violation of religious freedom. A second would argue that the legislation imposes costs on states without properly reimbursing them.

When does it take effect?
in May 2008.

The North American Union:

if you are interested in the immigration issue this is important!!!

The Independent Task Force on North America was a project organized by the Council on Foreign Relations (U.S.), the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations. It was chaired by former Canadian politician John Manley and advocates a greater economic and social integration between Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

It was launched in October 2004 and published two documents: Trinational Call for a North American Economic and Security Community by 2010 (March 2005) and its final report Building a North American Community[1] (May 2005).

The final report proposed increased international cooperation between the nations of Canada, the United States, and Mexico, similar in some respects to that of the European Union.

Some Internet sources claim that this report, despite its own language rejecting a political union, would create a North American Union, which would link the three North American countries into a political union in the model of the European Union.[citation needed] Some envision this new North American Union as having its own currency known as the amero, which would replace the Mexican peso, U.S. dollar and Canadian dollar

In recent times, the three North American nation-states have increased their economic ties, further accelerating the process with the signing of 1994’s North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

In response to the demands of increasing globalization and shared concerns from abroad, such as the increasing clout of other economic spheres such as the European Union and China, the leaders of the three nations agreed in 2005 to work more cooperatively on shared North American concerns. To this end, they agreed to establish the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America

The North American Union would currently (as of 2007) have a total population of around 440,000,000 citizens. For comparison, the European Union currently (as of 2007) has an estimated population of 493,000,000.

The NAU population would be divided among the three constituent nations as follows:
North American Population By Country Country Population
USA 300,050,259
Mexico 107,449,525
Canada 33,098,932

Of all the videos of talks at Google to date, Ron Paul’s is by far the most popular – after being on the net for only a week days!. The next closest is Hillary’s talk, after being up for over four months, followed by John McCain (two months). That, ladies and gentlemen is wide appeal.

ron paul has won all but one debate (there have been 6) in the text and internet polls afterwards on CNN and FOX news.

there have been 27 “straw polls” these are the first elections that have any relevance in the elections. they show where the candidates stand in each state in the beginning, some of them cost a bit to get in and vote some cost none. some of them are no big deal and others like Iowa are extremely important and a lot of money is spent on this event.

ron paul has won 10 of these straw polls (over 1/3)

hes came in 2nd 5 times. and hes never come in worse than 6 and there are 10-11 candidates possible to vote depending on the straw poll.

to see full results click here http://www.ronpaul2008.com/straw-poll-results/

he has won several really important ones as well.

these mean nothing to the average joe but in politics they mean a lot.

I have spent many many hours and a lot of money working for this man, what do i get in return? hopefully my freedom. If Ron Paul doesn’t get elected I know theres no chance of saving this country.

once you know this much go here http://www.ronpaulportal.com it will tell you nearly everything you need to know about ron paul. if you have any questions after this let me know

another good one is http://ronpaulforpresident2008

oh one last thing. this sunday is the last day for each candidate to report how much money has been donated to them this quarter. ron paul asked supporters last week to give him a 500,000 dollar boost before the end of sunday. the donations hit the 500,000 dollar mark on wednesday. it started monday. 3 days into it they hit their goal. at 10 o clock tonight we hiT 1 MILLION DOLLARS. YES 1 MILLION DOLLARS. we have almost 19 hours left too. obviously ron paul is way more popular than the media would make him out to be. hmm i think thats because the message of freedom is popular

Ames Iowa GOP straw poll August 14, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 2:09 pm

We left tulsa at 7 pm friday night. One of our first stops was a little restaurant in Nowata oklahoma just before the kansas state line. The restaurant was called hollywood and vine and was completely decked out in black and white photos of all of hollywood’s finest among other great collectables and knick-knacks. It looked like an authentic mob owned italian restaurant in NYC and they had great food. We stopped every chance we got to put Ron Paul flyers out across the country and it was almost 3:30 when we reached KC. At that point we decided that we could drive the 2.5 hours to council bluffs to sleep for half an hour or we could drive 2.5 to ames and just get there early. We opted for an early set up in Ames I crossed the Iowa border just after 5 and heard my first Ron Paul commercial on the air. This is when I started getting excited and when I started seeing the Ron Paul revolution banners and signs I almost couldn’t contain myself. I kept waking jay up saying “look, LOOK theres another one”

We finally rolled into the Iowa State University parking lotat 6:15 am and the granny warriors bus was in the parking lot with buddy the monkey. after giving him some attention and buying some buttons and wristbands we walked over to where the tents were to see how everything was set up. It was a disgusting spectacle. So much money was put into this event to show off for people. The ron paul campaign had way more integrity than this. The tent was HUGE but there were no ferris wheels, or watermelons necessary. The ron paul supporters were coming out of the woodworks to help and create our own moving spectacle. After signing in for all the volunteer stuff we decided to join the groups of sign wavers standing where the busses were to come in. There were groups of 5 – 10 RP supporters along the routes of the busses and on the other side groups of 10 – 20 Romney supporters. We had a guy with a paper tube psuedo bullhorn keeping us going but it usually took no more than 30 seconds to break up the team romney kids and they would leave because we were WAY WAY louder than them. then they tried to surround us with golf carts honking and bullhorns to drown us out but we just got louder and louder and not even that could stop us. So many people walked up to us and said things like “are you guys being paid to be here” and “good lord RP supporters sure are well organized, who do you take orders from” and other similar things. They were all so pleased to find out we were doing this on our own. One guy said to me “are you from iowa” and i said no tulsa ok and he said “YOU DROVE HERE ON YOUR OWN DIME?????” and I said yep, i would drive to alaska for Ron Paul. We got into a 10 minute conversation about ron pauls issues and he seemed very pleased.

we were back and forth between the parking lots and the tents for a couple of hours. Jay got picked to be the first shift of Ron Paul people to oversee the voting to make sure there was no funny business. and I helped out at the tent selling shirts and buttons and greeting people. There were several people who told us that they had come on the bus for another candidate but had decided to vote for ron paul. One guy had a brownback shirt on and a “i voted for Ron Paul button” THAT WAS SOOOOO AWESOME.

about 2 hours before Ron Pauls speech (we had thought it was going to be earlier) we started the ron paul parade. This was by far the most amazing thing i have EVER participated in. we started marching and chanting “ron paul” and “freedom” and other things like that and holding ron paul signs and banners and american flags. we were led by guys with the drums and flute and they were playing patriotic songs. Everywhere we went more people joined in. I was pretty close to the back of the line but when we ended up at the entrance to the coluseum there were at least 50 more people behind me. I would estimate anywhere from 200-300 people in this parade and the ISU grounds were not HUGE this made a huge impact and the only people with sour looks on thier faces were team romney people. EVERYONE was smiling at us, no one was complaining. they thought we were awesome. we then marched right into the hilton coluseum to watch ron paul speak from the “mosh pit” The clips from CNN are awesome, it looks like thousands of people with signs in front of ron paul.

The rest of the day was similar to this as well.. it started getting very hot and we were staying cool the best we could. we had sno cones and hot dogs and corn on the cob and had a great time talking to all the people.

a few minutes before 6:00 a guy RAN up to the RP table and said ” im from iowa and i haven’t voted yet” they handed him a ticket and he turned on a dime and RAN as fast as a racehorse to the hilton to vote

after the voting ended we sat in the shade for a little bit and then all headed to the coluseum for the results. Inside there were three main groups of people in the seats. a group of around 300 huckabee supporters, 150 brownback supporters, and 200 RP supporters. while waiting for the results we chanted and had some fun trying to drown out the huckabee people screaming “we like mike” and they would chant for about 30 seconds or so, We would chant for like 10 minutes at a time, and louder, drowning them out and they would give up. My voice was giving out from leading the chanting after about 10 minutes so we eventually all calmed down and only chanted when necessary. We had all decided even if RP came in dead last we would go CRAZY when they announced his name and you can tell from the clips that we did. when they read the announcements and said guiliani, the thompsons, and mccain before RP (they went from 10 to 1) my heart dropped. I could think of no better victory then not being in the last 6 places. We went crazy when they said ron pauls place and we were gracious to the other winners ahead of us.

After the results were announced we went back to the tent to hear Ron Paul tell us what he thought of them and everyone decided to go to the bali satay house where “ronstock” was held the night before. We played some pool and sat and ate egg rolls, rangoon and other chinese dishes with the other RP supporters. After a while we decided to get on the road and head to springfield to pick up Olivia. We were exhausted, sunburnt, and ready to get home for some well needed sleep.

This was such a great event and I worked harder and had more fun than I have had in forever. when i get the pics developed Ill post them here but for now here are some of the pics other people took

"reality cartoons" giving false expectations to kids August 14, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 1:39 pm

School is almost here again and thousands of parents like me will be sending little ones off for the first day of Kindergarten with visions of knowledge and education dancing in our heads like sugarplums. But we like our children are in for a rude awakening. With so much more federal involvement in our children’s educations these days our kids are really getting the short end of the stick. Teachers are spending thousands of dollars each year out of their own pockets on the classrooms, the wages certainly aren’t going up, and a lot of teachers are waiting the summer for the letter in the mail telling them they don’t need to return this year because of budget or staffing problems. In some parts of the country we are putting large numbers of kids in one classroom because of understaffing of teachers. For as long as I can remember kids have been coached to “vote because its your duty” from our teachers, not “inform yourself of the issues and if there is a candidate that fits you, vote for him.” As parents we have to prepare our children for what school is going to be like and a large part of that will be preparing them for the BS that revolves around anything government maintained.

Our children are getting fed large doses of contemporary cartoons that are more of a reality show than a cartoon. When I was a kid cartoons consisted of flying ponies, and little blue people, and sesame street. The almost sex in the city type of cartoons kids are getting these days are giving them a false impression of what school is really like and this is setting them up for a HUGE disappointment. Not that our public school system is anything to brag about but we must be preparing them for the culture shock. On the new cartoons there is very little of the show based around the classroom, its a lot of lunchroom, playground scenes featuring bullies and wedgies and playtime so thats what kids are expecting, A majority of the day they are planning for is on the playground and in fact, recesses this year where I live have actually went down several minutes each time giving the kids more time in the classroom than ever. I bought Olivia school supplies and made two separate boxes, one for home and one for school. I let her play with the home box and during the process I caught her trying to cut the top of the elmer’s glue with her new scissors. After calling her out she says to me “but mom EVERYBODY does it” whawhawhat???? did she really just say that to me. SHE is five years old. Isn’t it 4th grade or something before kids learn this everyone does it crap? I say to her ” who is everybody? you don’t know everybody so how do you know everybody does it?” She says duh mom if the glue wont come out you cut the top and it will come out faster. So shes a little smarter than I give her credit for but I am obviously not well prepared for her going into school yet.

I have learned the best way to prepare her is to just play school with her and act exactly as the teacher will. She is slowly learning that you don’t skateboard in school, hang from the rafters, and build spaceships to fly to the next rival school to play pranks on them (see jimmy neutron). We will see in a week how much of an impact I have made since I will be shipping her off to some stranger to see to it that she gets an education. With my blinders off of course.

You know, you hear your whole life that people hate the dentist. I rarely go, I am uncomfortable the whole time Im there, and i can only get lost in a magazine to prevent myself from a panic attack.

I can only attribute this unreasonable thinking with the reasoning that other peoples constant ranting actually does influence our thoughts.

I have been dealing with painful toothaches for years now and about once a year I give in and go get the bothersome tooth removed. I’ve been saying for years I just want them all extracted and yes get dentures in my twenties. Each time I go to a different dentist and each time i get told the same thing. You have several good teeth and several teeth that could be repaired with a root canal, each time the figures to do all the work that needs to be done ranges over 10,000. TEN THOUSAND dollars??? for teeth work? I think I’ll Opt for the dentures. Trouble is finding a dentist to give a 25 year old dentures is nearly impossible.

This week it started again. The excrutiating pain just getting worse and worse each night til i give in and throw down a hundred bucks on an extraction. This time I am at work, ask a few people for a recommendation and find out there are a few dentists within a few miles from my work. The first one I call is booked until september. I finally get ahold of a very nice receptionist at Dr. Brewers office and she tells me she can squeeze me in a few hours later. I suffer through the rest of work and catch a ride to the dentists office. I sit down and fill out some paper work and I am immediately shown to a room. The office is decorated nicely, although going through some obvious renovations. No sooner had I gotten through the Humor in Uniform section of Readers Digest, The Dentist pops his head in the door to introduce himself. He is warm and friendly, and gives off a great first impression. He spends about 20 minutes talking to me about partials, crowns, and several other options a person my age would benefit from other than dentures. He explains the pros and cons to each option including dentures and tells me whatever my decision, it can be done in his office but he wants me to think really hard about my decision since this is of course a permanant solution to an ongoing problem.

After that he tells me his nurse will take me for a full head Xray in one of those weird machines you put your chin on the rest bite down on the plastic bar and hold on. The machine itself is pretty intimidating especially when you are already in pain, In a new Dr’s office and it made these strange beeping and sing song noises at me. It was all over in 30 seconds and whatever terrible things i was expecting never happened. I went back to the room and re-situated myself with the readers digest and made myself knowledgeable about the workings of a chairside spit sink.

When Dr. Brewer came back to the room he went on to tell me that if it was financial issues that were the problem and I had decided on one procedure or another, he could break it down to fit my budget and come as often as necessary to get me fixed up. He lets me know the cost of todays extraction including the X-Ray that I wouldn’t have to do again. We agree that the tooth is coming out today no matter what so he gets started on the numbing process. He tells me how to breath and relax to minimize the pain. As I said I have been to TONS of dentists and none have ever told me you could breath and relax away the pain of the injections. The numbing started immediately and he gave me a bit extra “just to make sure I didn’t feel it” and within a few minutes the tooth was out. It was about 3 inches long because it was actually a wisdom tooth that had grown in place of the molars I had removed 5 years ago. He gave me twice the instructions I had ever been given on after care before and the tips he gave me have all improved the process of recovery, The codiene he prescribed probably helped a little too :)

around 7 that evening I got a phone call from Dr. Brewer checking up on me to see how I felt and to make sure I was ok. I have not once in my entire life gotten a phone call from even my PERSONAL doctor just to make sure I was recovering well. who was this guy SuperDentist???? In the past couple of days since the ordeal I have been doped up on Hydrocodone and alternating between reality.

Needless to say I had what was possibly known as the only good experience visiting a dentist in the history of mankind

If i get the camera fixed soon Ill take a pic of the Tooth

Due to the high demand of friends and family who haven’t visited yet but want to see where we live ill give you the virtual tour.

This is the street we live on, its on a dead end street behind Olivia’s elementary school on the corner of 3 different counties. My work is 3 blocks away and Jay’s is a few miles. The house you can see on the left is Olivia’s friend Amanda’s house. We are well aquainted with our neighbors on all sides and being such a small community everyone walks around with their dogs and gets to know each other. These pics were taken in March so I will post some new outside pics soon because the greenery in our yard makes it look awesome and we took the christmas lights down

This is the front of the house as you can see

This is the living room from the front door view. It has actually been rearranged since this pic was taken but not too many changes

This is the living room looking toward the kitchen and hallway. The hallway is filled with my own artwork and black and white pics of olivia, friends, and family

This is the Kitchen. I dont like the wood color but I will probably be changing it next spring

This is the bathroom, When jays dad came to visit the first time he said It looked like hawaii had thrown up in my bathroom. I said “good thats the effect I was going for”

This is Olivia’s room, It has actually been changed a lot furniture wise, she has a lot more stuff and shelves to organize everything and its been turned around the other way

This is the Office, It too has changed a little in order to make room for the projector :)

And last but not least this is Mine and Jay’s room.

This is the So I hope you enjoyed your tour :) new pics coming soon to a computer near you

Our float trip June 7, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — roxi @ 5:13 am

So Jay, Jake, Sam, and I went on a float trip over memorial day weekend…on the way down we got a flat tire….used a miracle product to fix the tire u just stick this gummy stuff in the hole (which was miraculously easy to find and right on top and not too big) and air it up and whalaahh it was fixed…then it started raining…hard and when we got there it was still raining….after about an hour of rain it cleared up a bit, we set up our tents and then jay started a fire…we started the grill and then ha it started raining again…so we sat in the car for a bit til the food was done and then we all sat in jake ’s car and ate hamburgers…then it finally cleared up and we had a good time just hanging out….the next morning I woke up with a toothache and went to get some coffee from the office only to find out the float was canceled because the river was up 4 feet and someone had drowned the day before :*( ugh on both accounts
So then the guys at the camp next to us were mentioning other places to float in the area so we got on the horn and thanks to lori and google we found a place an hour and a half south (HOOTENTOWN!!!) so we floated the james river that day for a 14 miles float and it took us 8 hours…It was really high and fast water but we dilly dallied enough to take a long time…we got to see some cool stuff which i didnt bring the good camera on the canoe (thank god we flipped like 12 times) but i did have a disposable which i will get developed soon…) and jakes car had to be jumped before we left However here are the pics i took before and on the way home we stopped at a small town restaraunt…im including those pics because it was cool and they allowed smoking…and if youll notice jay in his socks, it was just cool like that….the other pics are from random places we stopped to look at nature along the way home and the turtle photo shoot we did in the woods with our new turtle we found at the campsite (his name is froggie)

enjoy the pics
